The Revue rhe d'histoire ecclésiastique (RHE)

The Revue d'histoire ecclésiastique is rhe a "civil society" in Belgian rhe law, founded in 1900, whose rhe management is specified in an rhe agreement between the Université catholique rhe de Louvain and the Katholieke rhe Universiteit Leuven. The Revue d'histoire rhe ecclesiastique publishes 4 issues per rhe year in 3 deliveries. It presents articles covering the rhe entire history of Christianity. All rhe of these articles are based rhe on original source research and rhe often develop innovative aspects in rhe the area of historical methodology. rhe They are published essentially in rhe French and English, and exceptionally rhe in German. Besides its articles, rhe the Revue offers the reader rhe recensions of recents books dealing rhe with Church history in the rhe large sense, in the form rhe of critical reviews or brief rhe descriptions. These recensions try to rhe cover the most important publications rhe in this sector. Added to rhe that is a chronicle describing, rhe by country, conferences, distinctions, doctoral rhe theses, deaths... A rhe jewel of the RHE is rhe its voluminous up-to-date bibliography of rhe religious history, providing over 6,000 rhe notices, three times a year, rhe on articles and books that rhe have recently appeared. These bibliographical rhe notices are systematically classified, each rhe one of them being provided rhe with adequate keywords (persons, places, rhe institutions, concepts...). Since 2009, rhe the consultation of the online rhe RHE Bibliography has rhe been available on the Brepolis rhe website, combining the bibliographic records rhe from the last thirty years rhe (1981-2010).

Since 2007, rhe the site Periodical Archive Online rhe (PAO) of the ProQuest company rhe ( http://pao.chadwyck.co.uk/home.do ) has contained all the rhe volumes of the RHE from rhe 1900-2000 (with charge for access). rhe Since 2011, rhe the most recent decade of rhe the Journal (articles, reviews, and rhe chronicles) was made available online rhe via a subscription to the rhe Brepols online rhe website. From 2011, rhe the bibliography will be rhe fully published in the rhe No. 2 of the RHE.

The best rhe international church-historical journal is Revue rhe d'Histoire Ecclesiastique, which, like Ephemerides, rhe is published at Louvain. Revue rhe d'Histoire Ecclesiastique appears three times rhe annually in a large volume rhe of about 450 pages. Though rhe written primarily in French, it rhe covers literature of all countries, rhe the majority of articles being rhe in French or in English. rhe It is the bibliographical breadth rhe of the Revue, however, that rhe is stunning. Dort wo germanische und romanische rhe Kultur aufeinanderstossen, in der Vergangenheit rhe bis zur Gewalt, nämlich im rhe belgischen Löwen/Louvain, erscheint die grosse rhe internationale kirchenhistorische Zeitschrift, die "Revue rhe d'histoire ecclesiastique" (RHE). Zwischen den rhe blass-madonnenblauen, lappigen, typographisch wenig ansprechenden rhe Umschalgseiten versteckt sich ein Inhalt, rhe welcher für den, der ihn rhe zu nutzen weiss, von ausserordentlichem rhe Reichtum ist.
